CS2 had plenty of action to keep fans busy this week. Vitality lifted another trophy, Astralis changed course, and Valve made the rules stricter around regional eligibility for Majors. Add fresh tournament invitations and a welcome boost for FaZe, and there is plenty to catch up on.
Here are six stories that mattered.
This Week’s Highlights
- Vitality sweep MOUZ to win ESL Pro League. Vitality won ESL Pro League Season 24 on October 11, beating MOUZ 3-0 in the grand final. ZywOo led the way with a 1.65 rating across the series. The victory delivered consecutive titles for Vitality following September’s StarSeries Fall win, strengthening their return to form at the top of CS2.

- Valve tightens regional eligibility rules for Majors. On October 6, Valve updated its Major rulebook: a roster cannot receive a regional assignment if it appeared in another region’s Valve Regional Standings during the preceding three calendar months. The change applies to Major invitations, restricting last-minute regional switches intended to improve qualification chances ahead of the Singapore Major.

- Astralis bench HooXi and jabbi. Astralis confirmed on October 9 that HooXi and jabbi had moved to the bench with immediate effect. Both players’ contracts expire at the end of the year. The decision breaks up the team’s Danish core ahead of the Singapore Major and removes its in-game leader, marking a substantial change in competitive direction.

- PGL Bucharest secures all 14 leading invitees. PGL announced on October 8 that every team in the top 14 of October’s invitational ranking had accepted a place at PGL Bucharest 2027. Two qualifying teams will complete the field. With its January 17–24 dates overlapping BLAST Bounty, the commitments put a strong concentration of leading teams at PGL’s season opener.

- The MongolZ bring back familiar faces. The MongolZ announced nin9’s signing from The Huns on October 5 and restored cobrazera to the starting lineup after almost three months on the bench. They fill the places left by tikuak and DarkMeister. The changes reshape the Mongolian roster following a difficult start to the season, with its debut scheduled for October 19 in Belgrade.

- FaZe’s title gives their Major campaign a lift. FaZe defeated NAVI Junior 2-0 on October 10 to win Roman Imperium Cup IX, their first LAN title since IEM Chengdu 2024. The unbeaten tournament run moved them 14 places up the global Valve Regional Standings to 16th, improving their position in the Singapore Major qualification race before the November 2 invitation cutoff.
