CS2 and Esports News Digest – September 1-7, 2026

Spirit secured a second consecutive trophy by winning BLAST Open Porto, while MOUZ reached another top-tier final. Elsewhere, NIP and FlyQuest changed their leadership, The MongolZ brought cobrazera back for FISSURE Playground 3, and connection problems decided an IEM Beijing qualification place. Danish coach ruggah also ended his decade-long career.

This Week’s Highlights

  • Spirit won BLAST Open Porto after defeating MOUZ 3-1 in the grand final. Spirit took Dust2 13–8, dropped Mirage 11–13, and then closed the series on Ancient and Nuke. The victory avenged their defeat to MOUZ in the BLAST Bounty final and secured a second consecutive trophy following the Esports World Cup. Danil “donk” Kryshkovets received another tournament MVP award.

  • NIP signed Karim “Krimbo” Moussa on loan from BIG. The German rifler returned to regular competition after spending almost a year on BIG’s bench. Krimbo also replaced Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer as NIP’s in-game leader, making him central to the organisation’s attempt to move back towards the top tier.

  • Alistair “aliStair” Johnston returned to FlyQuest after leaving the organisation in 2025. The Australian will combine the AWPer and in-game leader roles, allowing Joshua “INS” Potter to focus on his individual play. FlyQuest began the new setup with a 2-0 win over NEXVOID in the IEM Beijing Asia Closed Qualifier.

  • The MongolZ returned Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar to their starting lineup. He replaced Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold ahead of FISSURE Playground 3 in Suzhou. The move gives cobrazera another opportunity after his July benching and continues a difficult rebuilding period for a team that has fallen significantly in the Valve Regional Standings.

  • paiN benched Vinicius “vsm” Moreira and promoted 16-year-old Rickson “Rkzinho” Dias. The academy prospect entered the senior lineup after paiN’s last-place finish at BLAST Open Porto extended a poor run of results. Rkzinho is set to make his first-team debut in the South American Closed Qualifier for PGL Masters Bucharest.

  • TYLOO qualified for IEM Beijing after FlyQuest forfeited the Asian qualifier final. Physical damage to the connection between Australia and Singapore left FlyQuest facing latency above 200ms. With TYLOO preparing to attend FISSURE Playground 3, the match could not be rescheduled, giving the Chinese team a place at its home IEM event.

  • Casper “ruggah” Due retired from professional CS2 coaching after more than a decade as a coach. The 38-year-old previously worked with Dignitas, North, OpTic, OG and Astralis, winning EPICENTER with Dignitas. His retirement closes a long coaching career that covered several generations of Danish and international Counter-Strike.

Hello there! I am Mario, a devoted gamer who has been in the industry ever since I learned how to walk. It all started during the old Counter-Strike 1.6 days when I was first introduced to the concept of CS serials. Ever since I have been madly in love with the franchise and spent countless hours attacking and defending bombsites.

Alongside Counter-Strike 1.6, Global Offensive, and now Counter-Strike 2, I also played other popular multiplayer titles including League of Legends, Dota 2, and Valorant. I also touched base on Overwatch, but never really clicked with that type of shooter.

On my attempted journey to become a pro, life caught up to me, and now I ended up with a solid knowledge of both the gaming and the gambling industry. Luckily, I found my sweet spot in the HellaGoodMarketing team where I can present you with various guides, tips, and tricks that will both make you a better player and a smarter gambler.

By taking a closer look at any of my pieces, you will find out that all of my work is based on facts that I verified or experienced myself. So no, I am not bringing an industry standard to you based on fake and un-tested information. All of the pieces coming from me are verified and legit.

Alongside playing video games with my lifelong friends, I am also a massive fan of soccer and tennis. If you can’t find me in the Counter-Strike 2 lobby, then I am either watching my local team compete or I am out there enjoying tennis.

Write your biography as a Gamer/Gambling writer: topics, experience, your interests (not only gaming), etc. Write why you are a gamer writer. Describe your role in HellaGoodMarketing and its impact on the gaming industry.
